| Services: Multi-disciplinary | Academic Advocacy | Parent Education | Student Interventions| Teacher Education MULTI-DISCIPLINARY ASSESSMENTThe Center offers a multi-disciplinary assessment for families when their children are struggling with learning and the reason for their struggle is not clear. These consist of full evaluations by any one or all of the different professionals pictured on this page including a psychologist, a speech-language therapist, an academic therapist, a social worker, a physical therapist, and a pediatrician. After the professionals have completed these evaluations, they then meet together to integrate their information and develop a diagnosis and recommendations that take into consideration the "whole" child. The family is then followed for three months of academic advocacy to assist them in implementing the recommendations after the evaluations have been completed. See the academic advocacy page. THE APPLICATION PROCESS The family need only call Judy, the Office Manager of the Center. She will schedule the family for a half hour free consultation. At that time, the family will meet with the Clinical Director, Dori Madsen, who will determine the referring concerns and do a brief history. Following that, she will give the family the options that are available both at the Center and in the community to address the issues that have been identified. If a multidisciplinary assessment or academic advocacy is indicated, the family is asked to go through a diagnostic interview. This entails getting records from treating physicians and school settings and completing a 10 page developmental questionnaire. When the Center has received all of the medical and academic information requested and the family has returned the developmental questionnaire, Dori Madsen, the Executive Director of the Center will summarize the information and meet with the family and obtain a full history. This session is free of charge this year because it is underwritten by a grant from the Twin Falls Health Initiative Grant. It usually lasts an hour to an hour and a half. At that time the family and Dori will determine what the child's primary issues are and what assessments are required to determine the underlying causes.
