SCHEDULE OF CLASSES

TEACHER COURSES: 

"Reading Big Words, Syllabication and Advanced Decoding" by

                  LOUISA MOATS, EdD,                            Renowned researcher and publisher

A two-day course with a focus on "hands-on" help for teachers in implementing the phonics, spelling and word study components of their core, comprehensive reading programs, e.g. Open Court and Houghton-Mifflin.  The registration fee is $300, which includes materials.

Thursday and Friday, October 4th and 5th, 8:30-3:30 at the Hampton Inn, in Twin Falls, Idaho

LANGUAGE! - 3rd Edition TRAINING COURSE - a professional development course for the LANGUAGE! - 3rd Edition Curriculum. by

      Angelee Eames, M.Ed., LANGUAGE! trainer

A five-day course to provide teachers with the knowledge they need in order to implement the Third Edition of the LANGUAGE! CURRICULUM.  The registration fee is $550.

Monday August 13-Friday, August 17th, 8:30-3:30 at the Hampton Inn, in Twin Falls, Idaho  

 

To attend this course teachers need to purchase a training curriculum.

STUDENT INTERVENTIONS:       

  • Classes are offered in reading and writing, math, algebra and study skills.

  • Scholarships are available based on financial need and need for the service.

  • Reading and writing instruction is offered both on the Twin Falls campus and in Buhl at Popplewell Elementary

1. READING AND WRITING

Summer Session Schedule:  

Monday, June 11- Thursday, August 9, 2007

 

Classes will be on the following schedule:

Two 1½ hour sessions a week for nine weeks either Monday/Wednesday or Tues/Thursday.  Class times are either 9:00-10:30 am or 

11:00 - 12:30 pm or 

1:00 to 2:30 pm  depending on placement.

Cost: $360

 

School Year Schedule:

Fall Session - September 10th - November 15th 2007

Winter Session - January 8- March 15 2007

 

During the school year children attend twice a week classes for one hour either Monday/Wednesday or Tues/Thursday.  Classes usually run from 4:00-5:00 pm and 5:00-6:00 pm for 10 weeks. 

Cost: $260  

 

2. MATH & ALGEBRA- 

Summer Schedule:

Monday, June 11- Thursday, August 9, 2007

11:00 - 12:30 pm or 

1:00 to 2:30 pm  depending on placement.

 

School Year Schedule:

Fall Session - September 10th - November 15th 2007

Winter Session - January 8- March 15 2007

 

Intermediate math:

For students in 4th-7th grade who are doing poorly because they are missing basic math skills.  

 

Cost: $390  Scholarships are available based on family income and the child's need for the service.

 

Algebra:

For students who are struggling in pre-algebra and algebra.

 

Cost: $390  Scholarships are available based on family income and the child's need for the service.

 

3. STUDY SKILLS

For older elementary, middle and high school students who are doing poorly in school because they are failing to turn in work, having difficulties with organization or seem to have more knowledge than they are able to demonstrate on a test. 

 

The next series of classes will be from September 10th - November 15  2007. 

 

Classes are once a week for one hour.  Parents are required to attend the last 10 minutes of class to learn the assignment for the week.

 

Cost: $225  Scholarships are available based on family income and need for the service.

 

CLASSES FOR PARENTS:  

 

1. CLASSES FOR CHILDREN WITH ADHD AND THEIR PARENTS

Two hour "introductory" classes for parents on how to parent the ADHD child run from 6 pm to 8pm and will be offered on the following dates:

Tuesday August 21, 2007.

  

After taking the 2 hour introductory classes, if a parent feels they need more help, they can attend a five-week session.  Watch this site for the next scheduled session.  Parents must have attended one of the introductory classes before they can enroll in this course.

 

2.   PARENT CLASSES ON THE LANGUAGE! CURRICULUM  Parent Classes in the LANGUAGE! Curriculum  offered twice during each 10-week reading and writing session.

The  parent curriculum the Center is using for these classes is available in written form at no charge for anyone who is interested.
